Guía para seguidores del Dr. J

Bien, pongamos la casa en orden. Como ustedes bien saben, soy lo que podemos llamar "un culo inquieto": seguirme entre mi marasma de blogs, tumblelogs y mudanzas varias cuesta lo suyo y a estas alturas tengo a la audiencia tan mareada que me maravilla que aún haya algún seguidor mío de la primera etapa en esta página. Pero ocurre que mi pasión por la tecnología, la dichosa web 2.0 (y la madre que la parió) y los inventos nuevos que van saliendo cada dos por tres cautivan mi atención de manera obsesiva, y ello provoca que me lance a las nuevas aventuras como si estuviera solo en la blogosfera, causando ataques de esquizofrenia aguda entre mis lectores. Y como con el año nuevo toca vida nueva, me estoy reorganizando la existencia internauta de forma algo más ordenadita y reensamblando contenidos para facilitar el seguimiento (si es que aún queda alguien interesado).Ante todo, que no cunda el pánico: esta página no se toca. Si usted es de los que se contentan con pasarse por aquí diariamente para ver qué es lo que se cuece en este antro de divagaciones pseudofilosóficas, sepa que seguirá actualizándose con la misma regularidad que hasta ahora, con lo que podrá mantener la rutina de entrar, vomitar lo que el post del día le sugiera y despedirse hasta la próxima. Si en cambio usted es de los que se interesa por otros temas (tecnológicos, añado) y le apetece seguirme en otros ámbitos, la cosa quedará así:
- Mi actividad principal (ahí donde me encontrarán a cualquier hora del día y de la noche) se desarrollará en mi cuenta de Twitter. Éste es el lugar oficial para off-topics, divagaciones tecnológicas y cualquier reflexión de interés humanístico que no tenga que ver con el post del día. Es una forma rápida de mantener el contacto (escribo incluso vía Blackberry, con lo que no tengo excusa para no contestarles si me envían un mensaje) y de no distraer el hilo de la conversación bloguera, cuestión que genera longanizas de comentarios imposibles de seguir para cualquier recién llegado. No sean tímidos y abran una cuenta en Twitter, que es la mar de sencillo. Y si ya tienen una, ¡úsenla, por Dios, que es gratis!
- Mi amago de blog tecnológico, hasta ahora ubicado en Blogger, desaparece y se integra en el universo Twitter gracias al maravilloso invento de Twitwall: aquí tienen el enlace directo, aunque si hacen el esfuerzo de seguirme en Twitter no tendrán que suscribirse al RSS: simplemente sigan mis notificaciones y listos. Observen que acabo de matar dos pájaros de un tiro, o que he fundido dos actividades en una.
- Mi tumblelog experimental, ubicado hasta el momento en Posterous, seguirá momentáneamente ahí, a la espera de que pueda colarlo también en Twitter vía Tweetree. Tweetree es una modificación de la cuenta de usuario de Twitter que permite mostrar imágenes, vídeos y enlaces directos, a la vez que seguir las conversaciones de cada usuario bajo la forma de arbolito (con lo que me gusta a mí eso...) De momento aún lo veo bastante lioso, pero a la que pueda discriminar de forma clara los posts de lo que serían las conversaciones inconexas, lo cuelo ahí también. Nótese que si lo consigo ya sería la leche: sustituiría tres webs con una sola cuenta. Acojonante.
- Mi actividad en Facebook seguirá por libre, con sus idas de olla personales y demás, y además tendré este blog que están ustedes leyendo vinculado a mi perfil. Por tanto, cualquier amistad de Facebook podrá comentar mis posts tanto aquí como allí a la par que seguir mis tonterías personales. También se publican ahí mis entradas de Posterous, así que este servicio sí que puede considerarse como el auténtico "tres en uno". Si quieren añadirme como amistad no tienen más que solicitarlo, pero hagan el favor de decirme quiénes son cuando contacten conmigo, pues si no conozco al del careto de la foto no suelo establecer vínculos de amistad (¡a ver si se creen que soy una lagartona que se lía con el primero que pasa!)
- Para mis ratos de ocio tecnológico hardcore y los debates de nivel sobre el futuro de la red queda mi cuenta en Friendfeed. Esto es sólo para masocas o amantes de la vena dura, advierto. En un futuro creo que iré a parar allí y me asentaré en su servidor de forma definitiva, pero de momento no ofrecen aún la posibilidad de redactar posts largos ni las opciones de personalización que requiero. Eso sí, a la que se pueda lo paso todo allí, advierto.
En resumen, que con suscribirse a mi cuenta de Twitter y a mi Facebook pueden estar al día de todo lo que hago sin perder detalle. A nivel más general y con voluntad de teorizar, añadiré que como habrán podido comprobar, el futuro de cualquier actividad social en la red se halla en el binomio Twitter/Friendfeed: el que consiga unir todos los servicios en uno ganará la batalla, como en El Señor de los Anillos ("uno para destruirlos a todos"). De momento Twitter lleva la delantera, así que por ahí me muevo yo de manera prioritaria. A la que Friendfeed consiga adaptarse (que lo hará, no en vano es un servicio financiado por los muchachos de Google) acabaremos todos ahí, no lo duden. Mientras tanto, y para pasar el rato, mantendremos este blog abierto, que siempre tiene que quedar algo para los amantes de las anticuallas.
(NOTA: supongo que ahora entienden porqué no tengo tiempo de pasarme por el Yoya, ¿no?)

De momento, no. Twitblogs está en fase "alfa" (ni siquiera ha llegado a la "beta"), pero todo se andará. De todas formas puedes acceder a estos datos desde tu perfil de Twitter, donde la respuesta figura como 'twit' tuyo.
Ah, y ademas acabo de descubrir que entrando en el tweetree te salen los comments con la fecha y la hora en que los has hecho
...y no sólo eso: también puedes expandir el árbol para hacer un seguimiento completo de las conversaciones. Ideal.

@Dr J We have not "plagiarized Twitwall", there are many sites that extend Twitter beyond 140 characters of which Twitwall is only one of them. Do we look similar well yes and no, they copied the Twitter UI and so did Twitblogs.
Re: TC article on Sam Sethi, well what can I say, did they interview Sam and ask him about his role/duties with Twitblogs? Did they ever interview me? Did they ever speak with anyone at our company? The answer is NO.
Regarding ex-employees of a company e.g. Oliver Starr, ask yourself if he were an ex-employee of IBM and started trashing his them would you think IBM is a bad company or Oliver was a bad apple and IBM was wise for letting him go? I think the latter personally.

OK, Roger, I understand your point of view. The story goes as follows: I open and close blogs around the internet every month, I love to try new things, I've jumped several times from Blogger to Wordpress, back to Blogger, then to Tumblr, then back to Wordpress, now I'm somehow on Twitter. People get crazy trying to follow me and it would be no surprise if this same blog we're having this discussion on disappears in a couple of weeks: ask my poor audience (no wonder it is so poor) if it's true.
So one day I discover Twitblogs and I say: "hey, let's try this". I write a couple of posts and I find two important issues:
1. can't edit my posts in HTML (important for me)
2. RSS doesn't work (important too because I like to link my blogs to my Facebook profile, the only place where people can still follow me in a somehow logical way).
So I Google around to see if I'm the only one having issues and I find that Techcrunch post. The important thing of that post is not the story that Arrington says, it's the fact that it introduces me to Twitwalls, a better system (seems logic because it's older), so I say "let's change again!" I honestly didn't think you would take it personally: it's never happened to me before because trust me, I'm a nobody.
So yeah, maybe I wrote a silly remark here to justify my change. I'll delete the comment if you find it harmful (I'm keeping it so just people understand what this debate is all about, although I doubt anybody visits this thread anymore). I'm truly sorry, didn't mean to offend you.
What happened next? I start getting your direct messages. And I think, "hey, this guy looks legit." So I say, OK, when the main issues with HTML and RSS (I saw this one has been solved, just to prove that I've been keeping an eye at Twitblogs) are tackled, I'll jump back there and give it a try. Hey, nobody will care, I promise, because of the 200+ followers I have in Twitter 80% don't even understand Spanish and the rest don't care about what I blog about.
Regarding the Sethi-Arrington thing: I understant TC post must be biased somehow, because I own a little company myself and I know what it means to struggle with financial issues. That story about the guy dying and all... bufff! It may be true, but blaming it on Sethi seems too much for me. That being said, maybe this guy can harm your business, because you cannot imagine all the direct messages I received advising me to stay away from Twitblogs as soon as I started posting there. At the beginning I replied that I didn't care about the "bad reputation", then I found Twitwall and went there, not so much because of TC but because of its better platform at that moment.
I trust you now, Roger, given your efforts trying to track me down to this post, but I'm telling you I'm not worth it: I'm a nobody, just got some friends in the internet that like the way I write and I keep this blog for them. I love tech stuff and that's why I'm into Twitter and Friendfeed and I comment in Winer's blog, but seriously, I don't think anybody gives a damn about me in the tech scene. By the way, I have never said anything wrong about Twitblogs in those places, I even mentioned Twitblogs in a Dave Winer thread (look for it, it was last week).
Once again, sorry if I have harmed you, it was not my intention. I'll try to be careful with what I write in the future (seriously, didn't think this blog could ever get so far) and, for the record, even if I may have some doubts regarding Sethi, I can say you seem an excellent guy. And believe me, I never cared if anybody stole my Twitter password (people got so upset about this in all the messages I received): that's the advantage of being nobody in the internet!
Again, I promise I'll keep an eye on Twitblogs and as soon as I find it useful for my needs I'll go back there.

So one day I discover Twitblogs and I say: "hey, let's try this". I write a couple of posts and I find two important issues:
1. can't edit my posts in HTML (important for me)
2. RSS doesn't work (important too because I like to link my blogs to my Facebook profile, the only place where people can still follow me in a somehow logical way).
So I Google around to see if I'm the only one having issues and I find that Techcrunch post. The important thing of that post is not the story that Arrington says, it's the fact that it introduces me to Twitwalls, a better system (seems logic because it's older), so I say "let's change again!" I honestly didn't think you would take it personally: it's never happened to me before because trust me, I'm a nobody.
So yeah, maybe I wrote a silly remark here to justify my change. I'll delete the comment if you find it harmful (I'm keeping it so just people understand what this debate is all about, although I doubt anybody visits this thread anymore). I'm truly sorry, didn't mean to offend you.
What happened next? I start getting your direct messages. And I think, "hey, this guy looks legit." So I say, OK, when the main issues with HTML and RSS (I saw this one has been solved, just to prove that I've been keeping an eye at Twitblogs) are tackled, I'll jump back there and give it a try. Hey, nobody will care, I promise, because of the 200+ followers I have in Twitter 80% don't even understand Spanish and the rest don't care about what I blog about.
Regarding the Sethi-Arrington thing: I understant TC post must be biased somehow, because I own a little company myself and I know what it means to struggle with financial issues. That story about the guy dying and all... bufff! It may be true, but blaming it on Sethi seems too much for me. That being said, maybe this guy can harm your business, because you cannot imagine all the direct messages I received advising me to stay away from Twitblogs as soon as I started posting there. At the beginning I replied that I didn't care about the "bad reputation", then I found Twitwall and went there, not so much because of TC but because of its better platform at that moment.
